Backup Domestic water-powered sump pump with Backflow Preventer

FYI... Need to Know

BP Residential Heating and Cooling offer many types of services, and products, and each service can have accruing yearly cost for that product to be maintained while other equipment is required by some New York State Codes / DEP as

sump pump backup installations

with the Backup water-powered (no electricity needed) sump pump system. We do our best to inform our customers about these mandatory yearly inspections before purchase so that they are aware of these accruing costs, responsibilities, and potential liabilities when having a backup domestic water-powered sump pump installed.

When installing a backup sump pump system that is powered by your home’s main domestic water supply a “backflow preventer” is required to be installed, and is required to be inspected every year by a certified trained technician. These systems can help save your basement from flooding if your main sump pump fails due to a power outage or complete pump failure yet; can be costly over the long term due to DEC (Department of Environmental Protection) regulation(s) / code(s)

Remember that it’s the homeowner’s responsibility to have these types of systems inspected every year.

Why is it important?

When or if your backflow preventer fails it can allow contaminants to enter the home’s domestic water supply; causing illness to your family and or a whole community, thus; the liability and responsibility is the homeowner.
